VISIT A GAMBIA HOME

If you want to have a look how the Gambian people live just discuss it with your guide so he can make it possible for you.

Gambian people are famous for their hospitality and visiting a Gambian home is really a nice way of seeing their day-to-day life.

Many of the housewifes use wood fires to cook on and preparing a meal can take the whole day. If you get invited to dinner it is considered polite to also bring something for your hosts. A bag of rice or something like this is much appreciated.

It is considered good manners if you eat with only your right-hand but it is very well possible that heaven and earth will be moved to find you a fork because your hosts will want you to feel at home. If you are asked to pass, or when you receive, something also use your right-hand. What ever you do, do not smell the food as this is a big insult to your host as to them it will be a sign that you don’t trust the food.
