In The Gambia several rare fishspecies can be found. Because the water of the Gambia River is salty for about 150 to 180km upstream it is even possible to spot dolphins up the river. In the coastal waters you’ll found i.e. sea turtles, (sting)ray’s, sea snakes (very poisonous), crabs, sharks, octopy, tuna and swordfish. A visit to one of the fishing villages is therefor very much forth your while.
