Chicken Yassa

* Ingredients for 4 people
* 1 large chicken, cut into pieces
* 500 g (18 oz.) onion + 1 onion for the marinade
* 1 fresh chili
* 125 g (1/2 cup) peanut oil
* 10 lemons
* Salt, pepper, ground cloves, thyme and bayleaf

 

Place the chicken into the marinade made from the juice of the 10 lemons and the sliced onion and chili; season with salt, pepper,
cloves, thyme and bay leaves and let marinate, refrigerated, for 12 hours; remove the chicken from the marinade;
pat dry; broil on a grill or in a very hot oven for 45 to 60 minutes; meanwhile, make the sauce: heat the oil in a saucepan;
add the onions and the strained marinade and bring to a boil; add the chicken and simmer for 15 minutes; serve with rice.
